Forefront

Drama from Pakistan to Iraq, Hope from Amman to Rome
The tragic current events in Pakistan, where presumed Taliban militias persist in abducting Christians and from Iraq where Baghdad and Kirkuk Bishops denounce the evidence of "planned attacks" against the church and local Christian institutions, urge to take back A Common Word text, the invitation to a new dialogue addressed by 138 Muslim leaders to The Pope Benedict XVI and other Christian responsibles, which, despite discordant opinions, seems however to be a new path for Christian - Muslim relationships against any form of violence.

The Letter was sent last October from Amman, Jordan where Islamica Magazine Editorial has its offices and whose director Sohail Nakhooda draws for Oasis a balance of these first months since the publication of A Common Word.

With Mr. Nakhooda's reading, which will be detailed further in the next Oasis review issue to be published on May 2008, goes along the opinion of F. M. Borrmans, Emeritus Professor at the Pontifical Institute of Islamic Studies in Rome, who while manifesting his interest for the invitation to contest in good doings does not hide its omissions.
