O Egyptians, descendants of the noble conquerors Ibn al-‘As, Salah al-Din and Qutuz …once again history (the history of Islam and freedom) stops at your doors and the fate of the Arab Spring awaits your decision and your action…Will you stand up to the various odious conspirators who reject freedom and democracy?
Will you resist as your noble ancestors did, behind your valiant and courageous President…creating a single front on the line of values and of principles, of freedom, of Islam, of democracy and of modernity?
O courageous Egyptians, although the spark of the Arab Spring was struck in Tunisia, it was in Egypt that it was transformed into a conflagration of the thrones of tyrants. Now Destiny puts in your hands the future of this Spring: what an honour and what a responsibility!
In the name of God, in the name of the Merciful, in the name of the Umma, I beseech you to remain steady as we have known you, and not to go back to your homes until you have achieved what you promised, until you have restored law and put back the train of freedom and of democracy on its tracks, restoring legitimacy so that the elected president, President Morsi, may continue to perform the task that the Egyptian people entrusted to him. Yours will not only be a victory of the will of Egypt but one also of principles, of democracy, of freedom and of Islam.
