Assistant Professor of Theology at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar, she received her PhD in Religious Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2014. She is the author of Knowledge, Law and Politics: An Intellectual Portrait of al-Juwayni, and she is also the editor of a forthcoming volume entitled Locating the Shari‘a: Legal Fluidity in Theory, History and Practice. She has published a series of shorter articles on Islamic political thought, especially on the scholarly connections and mechanisms of critique in the medieval period, and modern arguments for legal reform.
