amina wadud is a leading representative of contemporary Islamic feminism and co-founder of the Sisters in Islam organization. She is distinguished professor of Islamic Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, and a visiting scholar at Starr King School for Ministry of Berkeley, California. She is the author of Qur’an and Woman. Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman’s Perspective (1992) and Inside the Gender Jihad: Women’s Reform in Islam (2006).
