Rector of the Institut Catholique of Paris. Professor of Political Science, and former Dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, he is a specialist in the theory of conflicts, contemporary Islam and the problems of the Middle East. He also founded the Centre for Peace Research and the Institute for Formation in Mediation and Negotiation at the Institut Catholique of Paris. His most recent work, written together with Mohammed Arkoun, is entitled De Manhattan à Baghdad. Au-delà du Bien et du Mal, and was published in 2003 by Desclée de Brouwer of Paris.
