Margherita Picchi obtained her PhD in History of women and gender identity in 2016 from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, where she obtained also her Master’s degree in Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa in 2011. Her research interests include gender studies, with a focus on the queer issue, in Muslim communities and contemporary Islamic political thought. Since 2018 she has been research fellow at the Foundation for Religious Studies John XXIII in Bologna.
