Born and raised in Glasgow, Sheikha Safia Shahid is a leading Muslim scholar. In 2003 she travelled to Syria to study the sacred knowledge of the Islamic tradition. She stayed there for five years, studying Arabic at the University of Damascus. After completing numerous texts under the tutelage of Shaikh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, she was granted teaching licenses. She has delivered talks and conferences at many universities, with numerous guest appearances on television and radio, both nationally and internationally.
